MWM DesignGroup is pleased to announce that Julia Harrod, President and CEO of MWM DesignGroup, Inc., has been inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Alumni by the University of Texas at Austin Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering program on October 26, 2015. The 2015 honorees are recognized for expertise in their fields, achievements in research and education, and qualifications as leaders and role models.
Julia credits her graduate degree from UT as for the foundation of a successful career as a Professional Engineer, and her current position of CEO of MWM DesignGroup, a successful multi-disciplinary firm in Austin. At MWM, she leads a group of talented, enterprising professionals passionate about improving communities through the built environment, and having fun doing it!
Julia is devoted to her profession through educational outreach efforts supporting STEM such as Discover Engineering and FIRST Lego League (a competitive program that enourages young people in programming, design and engineering challenges). She currently promotes the engineering profession through service as National Treasurer for the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) and Chair of the UT CAEE External Advisory Committee. She has previously served as the President of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE) and President of the Austin Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Julia’s impact on the profession was recognized earlier this year when she was recognized as Engineer of the Year by the Texas Society of Professional Engineers, a prestigious award conferred yearly upon an engineer whose sustained and unusual contributions have improved the public welfare and the advancement of the profession.
